Nuffield Health own and operate 100+ hospitals, as a means of delivering healthcare to the nation. The digital presence of each hospital however needed rejuvenating inline with new brand aesthetics, to give users a greater ability of navigating through ‘local’ pages. In creating a new UI, users would be empowered the ability to understand what each hospital offers and find out if it’s the right one to deliver medical needs.
Testing in a lab environment, users verbally indicated that the navigation was tricky to use, getting caught in never-ending loops, not taking in information because they were overwhelmed. Adding in a tested and approved table of contents to the page, along with splitting the page up into hierarchical chunks proved to be the solution. Implementing these changes delivered a local page template that works across the different hospitals’ content, and has increased dwell time and click-through rates for subsequent child pages attached to local pages. People were given the ability to find what they need, and focus their minds on their end goal.
